Lost count of what week this is....Week 7

So I haven't blogged in a while and I think it was because I wasn't losing weight and was bummed by it. I had my first fill last Friday so I am at 5 cc's now; and I finally feel full now!! I have started to drop pounds again which is very exciting and encouraging. I have also started a food diary with an app called Calorie Count and that is really helping me make better choices. Things keep feeling stuck when I eat so I'm thinking it's because I haven't learned to chew well enough. So I have a question, what are some of your favorite meals? I need things that are easy to make when I get home from work, but are also high in protein and low calories. How many calories should I be eating as a lap band patient? I googled this but I'm getting so many different answers, I am trying to set a daily goal. I hope everyone is doing great and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Week Two

So my steristrips fell off yay!! How nerdy is that, I feel like my training wheels are off. My port area is a little more tender than it has been, it that normal?

Soft food has never tasted so good, I'm having a hard time eating small amounts :( I'm not sure if that's typical but I would appreciate any advice in overcoming this.

We had health screenings today at work and as it turns out, drumroll please........I'm obese!!! The nutritionist seemed to be very disapproving of weight loss surgery, I'm wondering if I'm going to have to deal with people's opinions all the time?

First Post

Ok so this is my first try at this and I'm starting this blog a little late; I had my surgery a week and a half ago and things are going really well. I went to Dr. Marsden at True Results in Richardson, TX and I really liked him and the staff at the Surgery Center. The nurses were really great in the post op area too, I had a lot of nausea right off the bat. That seems to happen every time I get anesthesia but I was really concerned because of the band, they got me up to walk right away which was not as bad as I thought it would be.

I recovered fairly quickly from this, the pain was pretty minimal except for the back pain I had from the air trapped inside. They say this is usually shoulder pain or chest pain but mine was right in the middle of my back, this went away by the end of the second day. I went back to work about 6 days after the surgery, if I was taking patients I couldn't have done it though; you really have to pace yourself.

During the liquid week it was ok at first; chocolate milk, broth, popsicles etc. but after a couple of days this gets really old. I was so excited to move on to soft food, so far scrambled eggs have been my fave and mashed potatoes have never tasted so good. The worst part about this phase is the fact that my stomach itches so bad!! This has been driving me crazy, the instructions say not to apply creams or ointments so I'm considering a lobotomy. I thought that I would feel full during this stage but I definitely don't, small meals fill me up but it doesn't last long and my stomach is growling after a couple hours. This is frustrating but according to my sister it's normal so at least I know there's nothing wrong with the band itself.

Well that's pretty much it so far, this was a super long blog but I had to catch up quite a bit. I think I'm realizing at this point how far I have to go still, so I'm trying to keep myself motivated to continue to make good choices.
